Simple and informative, does exactly what you want information technology to do and very well: tells you all about seahorses, from what they eat, how they mate, how they swim and includes templates of several unlike species. Also gives you little pieces of trivia besides the 'story' of a male seahorse meeting his mate, and and then the cursory journeying of one of his daughters. Almost of the details I already knew from wildlife documentaries, merely I didn't know/remember that the latin name for seahorse is 'Hippocampus' which means 'equus caballus-like sea monster', which led me to wiki where I found out our own hippocampus is named that because it'south shaped similar said sealife. I'grand sure at that place's other people snorting at me for not knowing that piece of information only sod off, I'm happy to acquire something.

The controversy: 5/five Karens and Kevins (apologies to those actually named Karen and Kevin who are not utter morons)
The reason I've even heard of this book is because of this asinine bollocks:
Hugging Sea Equus caballus Volume Is Too Racy For Schools, Tennessee Moms Group Says
Aye, two seahorses holding tails and dancing every bit they practise in nature is manifestly too erotic and inappropriate for a childrens volume. The just epitome I could call even vaguely sexual (and this is pushing it) is the ii seahorses pressing their bellies together, so mama can shoot some babies into papa.
Admitedly, the birthing role reversal could be confusing for children, providing said children are raised past the insipid cretins opposed to this book, because God knows those poor crotch gremlins are unlikely to get sex activity education elsewhere.
The cited commodity also covers some other ludicrous literary complaints by the same people who think seeing men wearing black smash varnish will infect their children with 'the gay', and is well worth reading for a laugh or a cry at how pathetically hateful our species tin can be.

This is a lovely book, and I highly reccomend any librarians reading this immediately gild it for their stock, fifty-fifty if just equally a protest. And preferably wearing a t-shirt with ii seahorses property tails in the shape of a heart, with 'dear is love, you dimwitted wastes of carbon' in bright pink letters.

And, because this review needs it, behold! Rampant, hardcore aquatic porn:

The life cycle of the Barbour'due south sea equus caballus is shared in story form while words in smaller print present boosted facts about sea horse anatomy and habits. The shining stars of this title are the wonderful illustrations made from vinyl engravings, watercolor washes, and printed woods textures. Their beautiful simplicity echoes the gentle rhythm of the well-written text. This title belongs in classroom units on sea life and on the shelves of every simple library.

Missing, however, are whatever photographs of existent ocean horses which would accept been helpful.
